Against the backdrop of a German-occupied Thessaloniki duringthe tumultuous 1943, the forbidden love between two hopelessdreamers, Yorgos, a rebellious Christian carpenter, and Estrea, a strong-willed Jewish girl, finds refuge in a small but busy tavern:
